The 2011 Lehman Trikes Good Turn Trike Award winner is Steven Iler of Southport, Fla. Iler was chosen among hundreds of entrants for his patriotic involvement, philanthropic nature, and need for a trike after injuries sustained while serving in Iraq. As the contest’s grand-prize winner, Iler will receive a patriotic-themed 2011 CrossBow donated by Victory Motorcycles.

Lehman Trikes bestows the annual Good Turn Trike Award to riders who exemplify the program’s motto of “One Good Turn Deserves Another.” Award winners have endured hardships but share a passion for motorcycles and the strength to overcome adversity and enrich the lives of others. This year, Lehman limited the contest to active and retired members of the U.S. military.

Iler was serving as an infantryman in the U.S. Army when he was struck in the left leg with a rocket-propelled grenade. After his release from Walter Reed Army Medical Center, a neighbor (and fellow war veteran) encouraged him to get his motorcycle endorsement and join the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association. Iler got his endorsement and found a new life in motorcycle riding. Since then, Steven has joined many veterans' groups and is very active in his community, teaching children what it means to be an American and bringing his dogs to the local veterans’ nursing home for resident therapy.

“We are very proud to have Steven as this year’s recipient,” said Ken Hines, president and CEO of Lehman Trikes. “He is a true patriot, and we are excited to be able to provide him with this beautiful trike so he can further reach out supporting our military. While all veterans are deserving, Steven is the embodiment of the Good Turn Trike recipient.”

Lehman will present Iler with his new custom-painted, patriotic-themed 2011 CrossBow on Aug. 11 during the Freedom Celebration at the Legendary Buffalo Chip. Iler and his wife, Tammy, will also receive deluxe accommodations from the Fairfield Inn in Spearfish, S.D., and VIP treatment at the Legendary Buffalo Chip.

“Victory is proud to supply the Victory Vision Tour for this important program,” said Steve Menneto, general manager of Polaris Motorcycles. “Every rider on the road owes a debt of gratitude to the men and women who have served in the armed forces. What better way to thank a soldier who can’t ride a traditional motorcycle anymore than to give them the gift of riding a Lehman trike through the country they defended—especially one based on an American-made motorcycle?”

Rod Woodruff, CEO of the Legendary Buffalo Chip, said, "Not enough can be said for our troops and their families who make such great sacrifices for the way of life we have inherited and so strongly desire to pass on to future generations of Americans."
