There she sat, a motorcycle that looked exactly like mine, a 2006 CVO Electra Glide Classic—same color, same everything. The bike had 17,000 miles on it, just broken in by today's standards. That visit made me get off my butt and start looking for something to help me get past the 642 miles I had on my bike. An illness had severely lowered my leg strength, and I was no longer able to ride on two wheels as often as I wanted.

There were many choices—big wheels, little wheels, fixed or retractable. They all had their pluses and minuses. Little wheels were out. I wanted simplicity and ruggedness. After all, I had a 930-pound pig to deal with. I settled for a kit by Trigg Trike Kits. The tires on the kit are bigger than the ones on my Austin-Healey. The frame is rugged, with many adjustment capabilities. The added beauty is that by removing four bolts, you can drive the original bike away, leaving some unobtrusive mounting brackets on the bike (for a quick swap back). So you can have it either way—two wheels or three.

After the setup, I went for a test ride. I wanted to keep going. Reason prevailed, and I came back home and made some final adjustments. Now I can ride again and follow my mantra—ride to live, live to ride!
