A rider scouting out the perfect-fitting trike will doubtless take into account many factors, but for most riders, one of the biggest of those is the seat. Whether your goal is to move down, back or forward, these new designs from Mustang Seats and Harley-Davidson might be just what you need to ride in comfort.

Harley-Davidson Super Reduced Reach Seat
The Harley-Davidson Super Reduced Reach Seat is designed for those with shorter inseams. Made for 2009 and later touring motorcycles and trikes, it moves a rider even closer to the controls than the Harley-Davidson Reduced Reach Seat, with a narrower nose area that allows the rider’s legs to be about one inch closer together so that feet can rest firmly on the pavement.

The Super Reduced Reach Seat is designed to increase comfort and confidence by positioning the rider closer to the hand and foot controls.

The scooped, bucket-shaped saddle is enhanced with back support padding to move the rider 2.5 inches farther forward and 1.5-2 inches lower, depending on the model. The seat can also be equipped with an optional rider backrest for added support and comfort.

The Super Reduced Reach Seat retails for $299.95 and can be purchased from your local Harley-Davidson dealership. To locate a dealer, visit Harley-Davidson.com

Mustang LowDown Seat
Mustang’s new LowDown Seat is another option for the vertically challenged. Available for 2009 and later Harley-Davidson FL touring motorcycles and trikes, the seat moves riders 1.5 inches lower than a standard stock seat, better ensuring that boots will stay firmly planted on the ground.

In addition to lowering the rider, the new design places him in a more forward position and has a narrower nose for better stability at stops. The LowDown also provides a deeply pocketed, 16.5-inch-wide front bucket for the driver, while the passenger rides comfortably on a fully supported 14-inch-wide seat. A fully adjustable, fold-down driver backrest is optional.

The LowDown, designed to move riders forward and closer to the ground, is available plain, with chrome studs, or with chrome studs with black-pearl centers.

The plain, one-piece LowDown Seat with a driver backrest retails for $669. For custom passenger comfort, a matching wrap-around passenger backrest with extended arms is available for $269.

Mustang Super Touring Seat for Long Legs
Unlike the company’s LowDown model, Mustang’s Super Touring Seat is for riders who want to move away from the controls. While the Super Touring still moves the driver lower than a stock seat, its main purpose is to push the driver 1.75 inches farther back.

The Super Touring seat is also extra wide, with the rider sitting in a deeply pocketed, 19-inch-wide front bucket. Passenger comfort is also assured with a full 14-inch-wide passenger seat fully supported by Mustang’s unique internal support wings that eliminate sagging at the edges.

The Super Touring moves riders farther away from the controls. Like the LowDown, it's available plain, with chrome studs, or with chrome studs with black-pearl centers.
